If Pets Had Thumbs Day

March 1, 2019

Did you know there’s a special pet holiday coming up? March 3rd is If Pets Had Thumbs Day. What do you think your furry pal would do if he or she grew opposable thumbs overnight? A Thorold, ON vet offers a few suggestions below.

Online Shopping

What if Fido and Fluffy could figure out how to order things online? You may very well come home to find your doorstep loaded with packages of treats, toys, and pet furniture. Your animal buddy may also sign up for pet subscription boxes, or a Steak Of The Month Club.

Video Games

Did you know that there are games you can download for Fluffy to play on your phone or tablet? Your feline pal may very well try to improve her gaming skills! As for Fido, we suspect he would enjoy playing Duck Hunt.

Raid The Fridge

We have a sneaking suspicion that if pets suddenly grew thumbs, a lot of people would come home to find their refrigerators and cupboards had been raided.

Snooping

Cats are very curious. Fluffy would probably have no qualms about opening every closet, cabinet, and drawer in your home and tossing the contents onto the floor.

Adventures

It’s probably safe to say that one of the first things on Fido’s agenda would be to let himself out. Your pooch may go around the neighborhood releasing his buddies, and then head to the park for a day of fun. Of course, he may return home to find Fluffy has locked him out. That sounds like something a cat would do!

Cancelled Appointments

Proper veterinary care is very important to your pet’s health and well-being. However, our furry clients don’t always see it that way. We do everything possible to make appointments easy on our animal companions. That said, we wouldn’t be surprised if our four-legged patients started cancelling their appointments.

Photos

We can’t help but think that pet selfies would make the world a better place. Fido and Fluffy take adorable photos!

Scratching

One way to put your furry friend into an instant state of bliss is to help them scratch that itch they can’t quite reach. If you have a back-scratcher, your dog or cat would likely waste no time ‘borrowing’ it.
