August 10th is Spoil Your Dog Day! Of course, Fido would insist that every day is Spoil Your Dog Day, but we checked! Our canine buddies definitely deserve to be pampered a bit. They’re loyal, loving, smart, playful, and, of course, super cute. Read on as a Thorold, ON vet lists some great ways to spoil your furry pal!
Baby dogs are basically adorable, furry little bundles of mischief. Toys are a great gift for a puppy. If your four-legged friend is going through his chew-everything-in-sight stage, get him lots of chew toys. Kong toys are great for this! You may also want to get your little buddy a crate. If your canine pal hasn’t learned basic doggy obedience yet, consider enrolling him in puppygarten.
Fido really never outgrows his love for toys. Pick up a new plaything for your four-legged pal, and indulge him with a fun play session. You may also want to get your pup a collapsible water bowl, for when you are out and about. If you have a yard, Fido may enjoy a doghouse, or a kiddie pool or sandbox. You can also get that cute tail going by taking your canine friend on a fun trip to a doggy park or a pet-friendly café.
Older dogs aren’t as interested in toys as their younger pals. Instead, pamper Fido by getting him a deluxe doggy bed. There’s nothing more adorable than a senior dog peacefully napping in his bed! Pet ramps or stairs are also a good option for pooches that are in their golden years. Your faithful friend may also appreciate a doggy massage, or perhaps a warm-water swim.
No matter what age your furry friend is, he’ll appreciate a yummy snack. Cooked, plain meat, fish, or poultry, without the bones, skin, or fat, is always a good bet. For this special occasion, Fido can also have a little cooked bacon or sausage, though you don’t want to overindulge your pup with these fatty treats. This is also a great time to get some adorable pictures of your canine companion just being his adorable self. Schedule your pet’s photo session for dusk or dawn to get the best light.
